PinExt Moen SaturDIY Season 3: Balancing Baby and Bathroom Design

*******

“Moen SaturDIY” – pretty witty! A web series created for/by Moen Faucets. And when I was contacted and offered the opportunity to “review” this video from Moen, my initial reaction was – “Come on!” I mean – I pretty much had to, right? As if I don’t watch YouTube already, but to get paid for doing it? Well, Heck! (Disclosure: This post is in fact sponsored by Moen.)

I do have some experience with reviewing home improvement video campaigns. Remember this post >> The DIY Guy from Owens Corning? I was not paid for that effort, but I do truthfully believe that campaigns like these are both a fun and engaging way to market products. At least, on me. … And anyway, moving on…

This episode of “Moen Makeovers” follows the Griffin family, who live just outside of Chicago. And with the help of consultant and host, Martin Motto (sp?), the couple takes a fairly plain bathroom from “Acceptable to Exceptional” in just a weekend.

As the video runs, we learn that Moen’s Facebook Community helped in determining the fixtures for this project. The entire bathroom re-design here focuses on three components: update the fixtures, add more storage, and add a new more updated color palette. Facebook users, it appears, selected a red accent on gray with a coordinating wood effect. The Telford Collection from Moen in Brushed Nickle was selected for fixtures and included a new shower head as well as matching towel bar accessories.

In the video we are told, this faucet contains a feature called Spot Resist® – a finish technology that inherently minimizes finger prints and smudges. Perfect, I’d say, for the Griffins and their growing and active household. They seemed to agree.

A good section of the “Work”portion of the video focused on the easy-to-install Twist Shower Head. It features four settings with a flick of the thumb, and here – it sure did look easy to install. Mr. Griffin drops the new faucets into the vanity top and this, I am sorry, is about all we get.

While I do feel that the “Work” segment of this vid was a little on the light side, I know (from experience) an update of both fixtures and accessories is easily accomplished within a weekend. Paint too, I guess (thanks now to “paint & primer in one” tech).

The video here, “Balancing Baby & Bathroom Design,” is definitely worth a four-minute investment … at least, for me.  Maybe you let me know what you think … of this vid or the series.  Comments welcome below.
