Disclosure :: Advertising & Such
Work with Product Manufacturers
The FTC (that’s the Federal Trade Commission) would like us (bloggers) to disclose when we receive cash, products, gifts, travel . . . really any sort of consideration or compensation for the activity we do as bloggers. Building Moxie does disclose, when appropriate, any such partnership typically within the body of the given post.
We have been part of several successful campaigns. A make-shift resume that shows some of this work can be found on the page BMoxie at Large.
Work with Guest Contributors
As part of our Tagged! activity, Building Moxie often solicits guest contributions from like-minded individuals or organizations. These posts appear in Guest Room (aka “the Agents of Moxie”) Menu option above. Many of these posts rank with our most popular. (Thanks to all who have contributed.)
In general, we do review and consider all requests to submit to the blog; in fact, we encourage that you submit. For Full Guidelines >> Building Moxie Guest Submission Guidelines. (Note: If we do not respond it is generally because you have not read those guidelines. So read the Guidelines!)
Because posting to any blog offers an opportunity for “link juice,” we are frequently approached by freelance writers or firms submitting on behalf of someone else (a client). We may reject these posts based solely on the underlying nature of the(se) post(s). We however have approved and do post some of these posts (with most submitted links intact for a given period of time) IF we feel that the net value of the content is up to the standard of the blog AND is of benefit to our reader base.
A Note on Links
We currently are not accepting Text Link Advertising.
A link does not equal endorsement, but we do in fact like many of the webpages that we link to. In the case of guest submissions, links are often traded for use of content – and while these pages are not necessarily endorsed, all are approved. In some cases, too, we do make a small commission for clicks on images or links to advertising or affiliate partners.
A Note on Images
While the largest portion of the images found on this site were created or shot by the admins (Barry & JB), there has and is occasion when images from other sources are used. In this case, we typically try to either adhere to a Creative Commons License or explicitly credit a source (sometimes in alt tags). On guest submissions, and in cases when an author is supplying images, we assume that they have rights to do so. We claim no explicit rights to these images.
If you are submitting to the site and can not rightfully gain access to images, we ask that you consider a source like Houzz from which you can provide embed code and source. …
- If you choose to re-use an image found on our site, please link back. Thank you.
Privacy & Email Subscriptions
We do maintain an email subscription list that has been built in four ways: 1. via an opt in at the “Subscribe 2″ Widget in the Side Bar 2. via the addition of a User Account used during (guest) posting 3. via a short-lived Registration period or 4. via personal contact with the administrators of this blog.
All/Any subscriber(s) (individual email addresses) may opt out of notifications at any time. (Simply respond to the notification in email or use the Unsubscribe button currently displayed on the site.)
All email addresses remain private to this publication and are neither shared with 3rd Parties (ever) nor used in any direct business-related correspondence.
Advertising & Guest Submissions
Bottom line: As we administer our own blog (independent of any business affiliation), we say, “If we can do, we will do.” (We have even on occasion generated content on a requested topic for a fee.)
