AK Renovations :: Putting a Price on Happiness

0
We all know money cannot buy happiness. Goodness knows it is easy to be swayed sometimes though. With the thousands of media images we all receive each and every day - drive this car, wear this watch, buy these shoes, drink this beer - it's tempting to think that these products may at least enhance our happiness. Shooting from the Hip, or is that Shooting Yourself in the Foot

Now let me tell you a little bit about my friend Jim. Jim never writes contracts. He shoots from the hip when he bids jobs, if he even bothers to bid them at all. He usually just works by the hour and makes the homeowners buy the materials for their jobs. He doesn't plan anything. OK, I think I understand where it is derived from, but still -- every time I hear that phrase, it is tough for me to hold back a cringe. [ . . . ]

As the daughter of an architect dad and a DIY queen of a mother, I think I truly had no choice but to become a home enthusiast. From growing up watching my parents demo and redo every room in our childhood home to taking on home projects of my own in my 20-something life, I've collected a few rules to live by over the years...[ . . . ]
