To figure which colors to use in painting our house in 2006, we started with some tests on the shed. This shed was site-built and clad with T1-11 (a type of treated yet inexpensive siding). When asked What do you do? and I invariably answer I'm a faux finisher, I sometimes get a quizzical look. I may follow up with I'm an artist...a decorative painter but I usually end up in the neighborhood of I paint murals...to which everyone then goes Ahhh!. I haven't yet found an answer that works 100% of the time and I don't mind the confusion since my own husband thought the glazes I work with are the same as can be found on doughnuts. And actually it's a fate not too dissimilar to that of at least one other building product that I can think of. Yes, another naturally occurring substance that in its day was molded into floor and ceiling tiles, shingles and insulation. Sound familiar?
