LEED, and printed like that, sounds like “Lead” and stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It makes for a pretty catchy acronym. I have known that licensing varies state to state, but I decided to ask around, and few friends of our Facebook page (go ahead like it) responded with what was required in their states. What I found basically -- the regulations under which home improvements can be performed legally vary widely (like the grand canyon) from state to state, with some variations rolling down even to the municipality level. We need training programs; we need third party certification and verification systems too. But for them to work, we also need the correct mix of government/private partnership; the right laws, and the right regulations that point industry in the right directions.
