Removing Formstone from a RowHome Part 1 of 2

6
I've had it on my todo list for awhile, to write about this project. And really, the goal here isn't necessarily to boast an exceptional job (it isn't) but rather to simply put it down in the hopes that it might be helpful (maybe) for folks thinking about undertaking a similar type project. Formstone is somewhat of a regional phenomenon, and removing it from our rental property was one of our bigger undertakings this summer. [ . . . ]
Paddington Bath Shower Mixer

The Language of the English Bathroom . . . or just . . . Yeah, Big in England . . . Indeed!

This bathroom consisted only of a freestanding bath -- what we know as a "tub". The tub was fitted with one of the strangest bathroom taps I had ever seen. It roped out to a hand-held shower thingy. That’s how I cleaned myself, with a tap -- “British” for “faucet." There was a separate room for the loo (http://www.macmillandictionary.com/dictionary/american/loo). It was a little less than what I had experienced in a US dorm a few years earlier. But it was fun, and rather spartan. [ . . . ]

We've all seen them, and even maybe secretly been guilty too of harboring interiors or home decor items way past their shelf life. But sometimes the days turn into years, which turn into a need, a gentle nudge or a major interior intervention (for those so far out of touch). Below I provide a list for fun, but . . . in some extreme cases -- you may actually have to print it, stealthily tack it to a frig, or even, mail it postmarked from another town . . . .

Debra Young :: The Role of the Occupational Therapist with Aging in Place Home Modifications

The main goal for a home modification or aging-in-place remodel must be helping your client gain or maintain independence over time. But how does a remodeler — even a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist — know what will be best for their client now and in the future? While you know the building codes and proper specs for the renovations, an occupational therapist (OT) can provide a medical perspective and help you better understand your clients’ needs. [ . . . ]
