I think one thing I have learned in recent months is that most really good bloggers watch other blogs, and usually through an RSS feed reader.  I have chosen to use Google’s Reader myself.  It is available here >> http://www.google.com/reader/.  Over the last few months I have loaded it up (and organized in folders) some of my favorite blogs.  And you might ask (in that *raised eyebrow* kinda way), “Well, so?”

Well — plan is to do a bi-weekly (or so) look at some of what is coming into my reader.  Just need to work it into my process. Whether I’ll actually do it or not, idk (that’s “I don’t know” for short).  On the spurring of my esteemed colleague Barry Morgan, we have also begun using Google’s Calendar to track what we will post on this site.  Yes, an editorial calendar . . . that Barry and I can both view.  And I already have it loaded up, some posts with a label — “Snag” >> as I will snag a bit of the web (periodically).

*******

For this go round, here are three blogs that I have added recently . . . and each I am fairly excited about:

The Decor Girl Twitter Avatar* The Decor Girl >> While I am just mad (in a good way) about her avatar, it is actually her twitter profile that is a big win. It reads  — “Interior Designer, Artist, Sportscar Driver, Classic Car Enthusiast, Fashionista, loves the kitchen, gardener and all about color.”  Pretty wild, and yes I actually know her real name . . . but . . . IIIII woooon’t tell.

The tagline on her blog reads “Decorating Advice for a Fabulous Interior.”  I noticed this only a moment after I noticed our name in her blogroll, and no, I am not biased.  But you’ll LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her blog.  (Are the caps too much?)

She covers all matters of design both large (on an architectural scale) and small (for the home).  She has a great eye for pics, and placed within neatly laid-out (often bullet-listed) articles, you’ll find lots of easy to follow practical advice.  The Decor Girl is certainly a little quieter than most of my friends in the tweetbox.  She posts regularly (but with little fanfare), and maybe I am simply here to toot her horn.  I recommend you check her at http://decorgirl.net/ . . . now.

Merrypad Twitter Avatar* merrypad >> Props early on for the use of lower case, and Emily was introduced by way of a spotlight post on CalFinder.com (a sometimes BMoxie contributor).  merrypad‘s tagline — “Inspiring Homeowners to Embrace the DIY Lifestyle”.  We follow Emily through the diy adventures of her first home.

Andddd . . .  I am just gonna say it – I’m not always a huge fan of first-time homeowner blogs, but there is a little something about this one.  More authentic or something — a feeling as if she is NOT “trying too hard” (if you know what I mean).  Emily seems to know her way around a camera (though she credits her camera fully) — capturing much of her super-craftiness in fabulous detail.  It all comes off as fun, conscientious, and, well . . . straight up endearing.  Oh, and I think she’s got a pooch, too — bonus points for you dog lovers out there.

But the real kicker:  You kinda get like two blogs for one on this one (OK not really sure if that is fair).  Emily quickly introduced me to her boyfriend (and sometime prop model and coworker/helper) Pete who with his childhood friend has launched the very promising http://dadand.com/ — “A mashup of all things dad-, and dude-related.” << How could you miss with that?  And check them out too while you’re at it.

Ginny Powell on Twitter* A Cracked Door >> A real newbie to blogging (at least on one of her own), I met Ginny Powell on twitter.  While we have really only just recently connected fully, she has been running with some tweeps I know for awhile.  As Ginny’s profile says, “(She) suppl(ies) Doors, Frames & Finish Hardware along with Radiation Protection Products to GC’s and End Users.”  In her very first blog posting, Ginny tells us that she has been in the “biz” for 16 years.  And yeah, I don’t know either — Radiation Protection Products?  You’ll have to ask her yourself.

The possible layers of symbolism around “door” is certainly not lost on me, but really, and as I shared with Ginny recently — I am surely hoping for some good old fashion door porn.  (Sorry, I got a thing.)  But I’m also looking for some quality sales- and business-related posts. Shout to Ginny for finally giving the blogging thing a go.  Please give her new blog support here >> http://acrackeddoor.blogspot.com.

That’s it and I’ll snag for you again soon. Thanks for reading. ~jb
